This is the first time I’ve seen a park where entire buildings have been moved so that visitors may wander around to view them and learn about their history. I liked it very much. The houses and they’re stories are interesting and lovely. I recommend listening to the audio guide for the houses you’re interested in. Even though we didn’t get to tour the interiors, we still enjoyed the experience.

I really enjoyed our visit on May 14th. Though, only two or three flowering plants were in bloom, the design of it’s yard and gardens, it’s trails, it’s fountains, it’s rocky water runoff ditches that flow into the Bayou were all absolutely beautiful (aka b** a**). The interior of the mansion is a perfect match to the yards. Very interesting antiques and collection, and my favorite part… Beth (i really hope i remember her name correctly)… She is the sweetest “young lady” I’ve ever encountered at any museum. As she heard me talking about the items in the Murphy Room, she walked out from where she was, the Massachusetts Room, to greet us. After some long enjoyable conversation about the many items and the history and about ourselves a bit, she told me i was (one of) her favorite quests. Well, she was my favorite too. She even invited me to look into the classes for becoming a docent. Very interesting, but i know my schedule would never allow, so long as i have to make a living, or rather, until i don’t. Don’t forget to see and read the history on the walls of the ticketing building.

The gardens alone are worth visiting just to stroll through. Even if you aren’t a history buff I strongly recommend you also do a house tour; for $11 it’s entirely worth it! The house has an incredible collection of historied items and the rooms are just incredible to look at. Staff are phenomenal! When my phone couldn’t do the audio tour they gave me a printed version. One of the staff even gave some fascinating background on some of the silver items, and showed us the Collections’ original newspaper of the Boston Massacre (which is in good shape considering its age)! If you’re vacationing on a budget, I strongly recommend visiting this place!

Great place to hang out, lots of trails. If you see a white van/bus rent some scoots. It was so worth the money specially if you go around 8pm, when it’s cool weather. It will get a little crowded with people but once you get on a trail it’s not that bad. Will most definitely be back!

Love this place! I went to see the bats at the Waugh Bridge, but got to see the park too. What a great place to walk, bike, run, etc. If I lived near there, I would spend a lot of time in the path going along the bayou. There were quite a few people using the park and path, but not too many. It didn’t feel crowded. I can’t wait to visit again!

This park is one of the best in Houston. It has well paved and well lit walkways and paths. There are multiple pedestrians bridges across the bayou. And there’s even a lock bridge! The horticulture is well maintained and isn’t over growing or dead. There’s plenty of green spaces for kids to run around on short grass.

A park every Houstonian needs to visit at least once. The trails are well kept and safe. There is plenty of parking. It offers the best view of the Houston skyline in the city. I just wish the area would be better lit at night. There are plenty of pedestrians after sunset and it feels safe, but it would be more enjoyable and welcoming with some better lighting.

My family loved visiting this garden… it’s Free first of all and although it is not that big you will enjoy it very much! The other nice thing about it is that you can ride the train afterwards since you are already at Hermann Park. I highly recommend it.. we spent about an hour just enjoying nature and walking the cute trails!

Lovely and relaxing place! If you like the Japanese culture you can enjoy this beautiful garden. It’s totally free, no matter if you going in winter there are blossom trees and some of variety of flowers, also in there you can see some tiny japanese buildings. I’m gonna back on spring to see more variety of flowers. 🌸

The hours of operation need to be updated to whats current. It shows it closes at 6:00 but it really closes at 5:00. We had less then ten mins to try and take pics for a maternity shoot. The place itself seems nice but we didn’t get very far into it. The guy patrolling the area just kept screaming the park was closed and we will be locked in. Just make sure you go before 5:00 and you should have a much better experience.

This is one of the best parks in Houston. I love this place so much. It has most scenic views, paddle boats, water fountains, train, open theatre what not! The most energetic and relaxing space for peace of mind. You can watch the ducks and tortoises near the water fountain. A good place to spend time with nature in this busy city.

Hermann Park… heart of Houston! It’s an amazing park – good for all ages. Kids can play around all day along. Elders can set a simple and beautiful picnic.

It hosts a majestic lake next to Houston Zoo. Wherein, you can do a family paddle boat ride or even seat besides the bank to enjoy the lake view.

Hermann Park also holds the beautiful Hermann Park train ride (kids’ favorite), Miller Outdoor Theater 🎭 (with its beautiful hill and majestic triangular roof) , Japanese Garden 🪴 and many more attractions in the vicinity of the Museum District!

Went to Hermann Park for an Easter 🐣 celebration. We had lots of kids and wanted to do a fun Easter egg hunt. There is no doubt Hermann would be the spot; the park has so much space and is in a nice location. Did I mention the Houston Zoo is in walking distance as well as museums. The space really made the Easter egg hunt an unforgettable experience. The park could use an update on the playgrounds, but kids are kids and will have fun regardless.

It is free entry, but highly suggest donating for the wonderful artist. All the art is unique and very appealing to look at it. They replace the art often so when people go back their not viewing the same pieces. Another thing I like is how refreshing the art is, you can’t find it anyplace else.

Such a lovely place for all ages honestly. No matter the weather there’s always something to do. Whether you’re feeling productive or chill, the area is perfect for sitting and just enjoying a meal. You can watch as the world continues to move while you’re taking a couple minutes to rest. You gather your energy while around you, a dog runs after a squirrel while still attached to their leash, or the girl who is on a picnic is taking pictures, or hearing the rings of the bicycles that you can rent a few blocks away. So much is going on and it’s so liberating knowing other people are out there doing their own thing and living their own life. It could be a perfect day

So this place is legit the SPOT when an event happens in Houston. There is always something to do here whether its morning yoga, afternoon writing, or night movies. Even if you don’t check ahead of time and just go for a stroll it’s great. Yes they have a play area for the kids and walking here is peaceful even at night. Honestly I recommend taking pics anyone that visits because they’re a ton of photogenic things that happen here. Only thing is parking is an issue other than that, Enjoy!

This is a lot of fun and a neat little side-stop to show people that haven’t seen it. But to those of you coming to see it please understand the following:

In 2017 during Hurricane Harvey the big bubble was severely damaged and only worked sporadically since then. It is very possible that the bubble will not work when you go. I have not gotten it to work since Hurricane Harvey hit.

At best you see a somewhat large bubble emerge from the bayou at the push of a button, but it does not seem to work sometimes. We went out of our way to view this and it was fairly underwhelming. The location of said button is also difficult to pin down along the brick walls.

I love the Beer Can House and Orange Show, both. The people are so nice and these attractions are more than a mere curiosity—they’re FUN! I’ve been visiting them both for years with my various guests. They’ve uniformly enjoy the experience, and I get such diverse reactions. I like appreciating them from perspectives other than my own. They each represent the truly unique passion of the individual who created them. I was fortunate enough to discover the Beer Can House when the gentleman who created it still lived there. I can’t say much for the totally uninspired generic neighbors that crowd it now, but it’s still a jewel.

A smaller aquarium, but still quite nice. There are many species of fish and also a few reptiles, insects, and even a tiger.

The habitats seem good for most of the Animals. The tiger area might be a bit small for that big guy however.

There is an interactive section where you can touch some stingrays which is pretty cool.

There’s also some amusement park rides out back.

Overall, it’s a small but well maintained aquarium doing good with the space they have. A nice place to spend an afternoon with your family.

First of all, I loved the fish here. They have some adorable/interesting fish and I love that the aquarium is on a walking/biking trail so you can explore downtown. However, I can’t help but feel like some of the tanks here were too small. We saw one medium sized eel in a tank slightly larger than the length of his body. The tiger was neat but seemed very out of place for an aquarium. We went on a Wednesday and it was decently packed so I couldn’t imagine attending on a weekend. No one checked our tickets to enter. There are very few digital signs to explain the fish you’re looking at. The restaurants prices are incredibly overpriced. It is $16 for a burger and you have to pay extra to upgrade from kettle chips to fries. The burger was one of the least expensive items on the menu. For being so expensive, the restaurant felted very outdated. The fish tank view was nice though. We had a gift voucher from a relative but we made sure to use it up because we definitely will not be back.

Market Square has a peaceful ambiance about it. A historic area, where Houston began. Imagine a quiet park surrounded by skyscrapers, high rise condos and the original “old school” buildings with their masonry work from artisans from the by gone era of the original downtown Houston. There’s clubs, restaurants and Market Square Park has a myriad of events for families, singles, yes dates and don’t forget to bring your pet….a dog park is included. Enjoy!

My friends and I have frequented Market Square Park, specifically for Blanket Bingo, for several years now. It started off simple and pretty and has since invested it’s earned dollars into a truly beautiful park. I didn’t like the inclusion of the dog park at first but it’s grown on my and not an eyesore line I originally thought. The landscaping fits and the lights twinkle at dusk. I really like this park. Great for a picnic and games with friends and outdoor movies.

One of the cool place to be at middle of hustle midtown. If you love being at nature and you are at the Houston, it is a must go place. The artificial water fall at the end of green grasses looks so charming. If you are looking for some amazing pictures, wedding shoot or any kind of photography this is the place to be. Photos at place usually looks great on a sunny day. But be careful during the during the weekends as it usually gets busier and you need to be tooo lucky to find a parking spot.

Took my second historical tour of the Cistern with family today and it was just as good — if not better — as the first time. This is such a great half hour tour and covers tons of great Houston historical facts. If you have out of towners, bring them here to get a quick infusion of Houston history! Bonus: today our tour guide sang in the cistern and it was one of the most enchanting Houston experiences of my life.

Beautiful and unique place. If you like architecture, engineering, brutalism… this is definitely worth seeing. The historical tour is short and you get to see plenty (there isn’t much anyways) by walking around the perimeter, the place is massive and the echo chamber effect is outstanding. The perspective distortion created by the water is crazy!
